Recently, the development project of a complete set of deep-sea (3000-8000 meters) sediment sampler equipment developed by Hunan University of Science and Technology for the "Science" spacecraft has successfully passed the acceptance of the expert group.
On the "Science" marine science comprehensive survey ship berthed at the Qingdao wharf, an acceptance expert group composed of 7 experts, including Li Tiegang, Deputy Director of the Institute of Oceanography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Hui, and Liu Deshun, President of Hunan University of Science and Technology, carried out on-site acceptance of the "Deep Sea (3000-8000m) Sediment Sampler Complete Equipment" developed by Wan Buyan and Huang Xiaojun project teams of Hunan University of Science and Technology. Relevant experts and professors from the Asset Management Department and Scientific Research Department of the Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Science and Technology Department of Hunan University of Science and Technology, the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and the Advanced Mining Equipment Engineering Research Center accompanied the acceptance work, and held a project acceptance meeting in the "Science" conference room.
The complete set of equipment for deep-sea (3000-8000 meters) sediment samplers includes three sets of small box samplers, one set of large box samplers, six sets of gravity piston samplers/gravity vacuum piston samplers - bottom water sampler combinations, and two sets of sampler deck units. It is the winning project of the school in the bidding project of the Institute of Oceanography and is a marine scientific exploration supporting equipment specially developed for the "Science" vessel. Professor Huang Xiaojun, a member of the project team and member of the Advanced Mining Equipment Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education of Hunan University of Science and Technology, conducted an acceptance report on the design basis, overall technical requirements, system composition and main technical parameters of the "Deep Sea (3000-8000 meters) Sediment Sampler Complete Equipment", as well as the onboard dock testing of the box sampler and gravity piston sampler. The rationality of the design and feasibility of operation of the heavy set equipment were analyzed.
After listening to the report, the acceptance expert group conducted on-site tests on the developed "Deep Sea (3000-8000 meters) Sediment Sampler Complete Equipment" system on the "Science" marine science comprehensive exploration ship. Professors Huang Xiaojun and Wan Buyan provided detailed introductions. Experts have engaged in serious discussions on box sampler systems, gravity piston sampling systems, deck units, etc.
