China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau Engineering Co., Ltd. has learned that the new energy and new business of China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau has begun to take shape, with a contract amount of over 500 million yuan for both existing and ongoing projects. Since 2022, the Pipeline Bureau has been operating 41 new energy projects, involving multiple fields such as hydrogen storage and transportation, CCUS, photovoltaics, new energy planning, energy storage, and new materials.

The New Energy Technology Research Institute of China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau was established in May 2021. Currently, it has formed a pattern mainly focused on hydrogen energy and CO2 storage and transportation, with multiple businesses such as energy storage, photovoltaic, and wind power developing simultaneously. Among the 18 new energy and new business projects presided over, participated in, and applied for by the China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau, the total number of projects related to hydrogen pipelines, liquid hydrogen, ammonia, and CO2 pipelines accounts for 70%.

Zhao Liqian, the head of the New Energy Technology Research Institute of China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau, introduced that since November last year, the pipeline bureau has received multiple orders for new energy and materials business. Among them, the Jiyuan Luoyang hydrogen pipeline relocation project is the longest distance hydrogen pipeline with the largest diameter, highest pressure, and highest gas transmission capacity that has been built in China. Another significant project is the Ningxia Ningdong Natural Gas Hydrogen Blending and Carbon Reduction Demonstration Project, which is the first hydrogen transmission pipeline put into operation by the China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau.

"The Pipeline Bureau will take the initiative in conducting scenario experiments and take the lead in achieving research on key issues related to hydrogen energy transportation outside the laboratory in China, providing scientific evidence for the construction and promotion of hydrogen pipelines nationwide." Zhao Liqian said that the above two projects will provide important references for the successful application of the national key research and development plan "Hydrogen Energy Technology" key special project "Key Technology Research and Scale Application of Pipeline Hydrogen in Urban Energy Supply". This key special project is an important component of the "Hydrogen Enters Ten Thousand Houses" major science and technology demonstration project organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. It has been successfully applied for by the China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau in conjunction with 14 units including Weichai Power, State Power Investment, Shandong University, China Resources Gas, and Ganghua Gas. It will conduct in-depth research on hydrogen transmission pipes, equipment, connection sealing, safety guarantees, and other aspects. The project entity will rely on the project to build a pure hydrogen pipeline experimental platform in the future, and complete the demonstration design of a 100 km pure hydrogen pipeline network and 100000 households of hydrogen blending.

The China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau has also successfully promoted the integrated construction project of "production, storage, transportation, and sales" of Wuhai hydrogen energy, breaking through for the first time the carbon dioxide pipeline in the exploration sector of China Petroleum, as well as the million ton CCS and photovoltaic projects in the Tarim Oilfield. It has also developed and invested in the commercial model of hydrogen pipeline network, and planned to build domestic hydrogen pipeline network open platforms such as the Beijing Tianjin Hebei hydrogen pipeline network and the western hydrogen pipeline network.
